Aspire Alternative Provision

Teacher of Art/Creative Media/Design, Part-Time (0.4 or 0.6), 1 Year Maternity Cover

Overview

Aspire Alternative Provision requires a teacher of Art/Creative Media/Design for a one-year maternity cover contract to lead lessons with small groups of students, inspiring and challenging them to achieve maximum progress and a love of creativity.

We need someone who is willing to get involved in a wide range of creative activities, in order to engage all of our students.  We need someone who is excited to learn more about the wide range of special educational needs, disabilities and other barriers that our students have, and how we can work to help them overcome these.

We require a teacher for either two or three days. Wednesday will be a working day and the other working days can be offered on a flexible basis. One day will be spent at Shortenills, our SEMH school in Chalfont St Giles and one or two days will be spent at Aylesbury Vale Blueprint.

The applicant pack can be downloaded here.

Personal attributes

We want to find teachers who believe that young people who have been excluded need a nurturing and loving approach, to feel valued and cared for, and to have teachers who believe in them.

We know this work isn't always easy. You will need to be calm in the face of challenging behaviour, and always see the best in a young person, and find something to love in them, no matter what.

We have high expectations of our young people, in terms of their behaviour, social development, and academic achievement. We know that young people who have been excluded often have complex backgrounds, and/or a number of unmet special educational needs. When they receive the right support, they are capable of great things.

Salary & Benefits

Salary MPS or UPS. Our teachers are members of the Teachers' Pension Scheme.

Location

Shortenills, Chalfont St Giles for one day and Aylesbury Vale Blueprint for one or two days.
