Aspire for Young People - our Charity

Aims and Strategic plan

Creativity runs through everything that we do at Aspire. We see how the arts have the ability to reach disaffected learners. The arts can give students a sense of achievement and the foundations to continue building aspiration.

Our aim is to create opportunities for young people to experience enriching activities that they otherwise would not have access to. We plan on achieving this in a number of ways,  including building on existing links and relationships with key partners, enabling volunteering and mentoring opportunities, and reaching out to students missing out on education. For more information please see our AfYP Strategic Plan

Achievements so far

The charity has worked with the support of Artswork and The Rothschild Foundation and in conjunction with the Cultural Educational Partnership to provide access to cultural and creative opportunities for the students at Aspire including:

  • Arts weeks at Aspire where students worked with artists to participate in a range of creative workshops including silver jewellery, spray painting, animation, beatboxing, circus skills and mural painting.
  • Creation of a dark room at our Blueprint site.
  • Sourcing high quality CPD for staff to take into their lessons, for example iPad art training, Art for Wellbeing with a Art therapist, animation, collage and photography.
  • Running trips to galleries , museums, theatres and local art studios.

We have also run two successful online conferences: 'The Power of the Arts' in April 2021 and 'Culturally Responsive Communities' in July 2022.
