Outreach

Outreach is an early intervention programme, best introduced when a student's behaviour has reached a level where a Pastoral or Behaviour Support Plan is being considered.

Schools can refer students who are displaying challenging behaviour despite interventions having been put in place. We will ask for evidence of what interventions and/or referrals have been tried before accepting a student onto the outreach programme.

Information for schools

Please see our Referrals and Charges page for up to date information on the cost of our service, our Service Level Agreement and how to make a referral.

What we offer schools:

  • Weekly one to one support sessions for referred students
  • Lesson observation and feedback
  • Advice for school staff
  • Attendance at multiagency meetings
  • Advice on other agencies that might be able to help

What we offer students:

We work with students on a weekly basis, one-to-one, for an agreed period of time. We build a bespoke programme for each student that we work with, depending on the challenges they are facing and the aims that they, their family and school have.

Some of the different types of work we might  do with students include:

  • Problem solving and solution focused work
  • Work that supports emotional regulation, and support with stress, anger or other difficult emotions
  • Work that supports the development of resilience and other coping strategies
  • SMART target setting
  • Listening without judgement
  • Raising aspirations
  • Development of self-esteem and confidence building
  • Communication skills
  • A place to reflect
  • Advocacy - we can work with students to support them to have their voice heard in professionals' meetings, for example
