Free School Meals
It is part of the Aspire culture to make sure that every child attending school full time is provided with a free, nutritious meal at lunchtime, as well as being offered breakfast on arrival at school. This is not dependant on a child being eligible for Free School Meals (FSM).
However, if you are eligible for FSM you are also entitled to food and holiday activity vouchers. Aspire will issue vouchers for eligible students who are only on roll at Aspire. Students who are registered both with Aspire and a mainstream school will receive holiday vouchers via the mainstream school
If you have previously applied and been granted Free School Meal eligibility through your child's mainstream school please contact us to inform us of this.
Are you eligible?
- · Your child is entitled to free school meals if you receive:
- · Universal Credit - with an annual net earned income of no more than £7,400
- · Income Support (IS)
- · Income-based Job Seeker’s Allowance (IBJSA)
- · An income–related employment and support allowance (ESA)
- · Child Tax Credit (with no Working Tax Credit) with an annual income of no more than £16,190
- · Support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999

If you receive Child Tax Credit and Working Tax Credit
If you are entitled to Child Tax Credit and also Working Tax Credit, you'll be eligible for free school meals during the 4-week period immediately after your employment ceases or after you start to work fewer than 16 hours per week.
How to apply
If you child is on roll at Aspire only, we can process an application – please print off and complete the form below (or request a paper copy which we can send home with your child).
If your child is registered at Aspire and a mainstream school you'll need to apply via the mainstream school – please contact them directly.
If you have children at different schools, you'll need to contact each school individually to apply for free school meals for each child.
Notify the school if there are changes to your benefits
It is important to notify your child’s school if you have a change in your benefits or your partner is now claiming the family’s benefit for FSM.
